Job Description

As a Manufacturing Equipment Engineer on Tesla's General Assembly, Semi team, you will sustain, optimize, and improve advanced automated manufacturing equipment. This role involves reducing downtime, maximizing efficiency, and enhancing safety and process standards. You'll become a subject matter expert on critical equipment, contributing to Tesla's mission of building a sustainable future. Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FATs) that require international travel to validate and launch new production tooling Maintain and troubleshoot equipment to support continuous production and minimize downtime Design and validate jigs, fixtures, tooling, and maintenance schedules to ensure safety and reliability Uses first principals' approach and lead upgrades and modifications to improve equipment performance and process capability Develop expertise on assigned equipment, including automation systems, to support training and troubleshooting Run ROI analysis and present engineering justification to Capex Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or equivalent experience Experience in high-volume manufacturing setting Strong 2D and 3D CAD design skillset Hands-on knowledge of robotics (e.g., Fanuc), vision systems (e.g., Keyence, Cognex), dispense systems, and conveyance systems Familiarity with AGVs, torque tools, dispense, fluid fill systems, and EOL testing is a plus Strong skills in designing jigs, fixtures, and tooling with a focus on safety, DFM, and GD&T Demonstrated experience with 3-phase 480/208 VAC, single-phase 208/120 VAC, and 24 VDC systems Proven problem-solving ability using structured methods like DMAIC, 8D, or 5 Whys, and excellent communication and teamwork skills Benefits Along with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire: Medical plans > plan options with $0 payroll deduction Family-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contribution Company Paid (Health Savings Accounts) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High-Deductible medical plan with HSA Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits Company paid Basic Life, AD&D Short-term and long-term disability insurance (90 day waiting period) Employee Assistance Program Sick and Vacation time (Flex time for salary positions, Accrued hours for Hourly positions), and Paid Holidays Back-up childcare and parenting support resources Voluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insurance Weight Loss and Tobacco Cessation Programs Tesla Babies program Commuter benefits Employee discounts and perks program
