Job Description

Role Overview We are looking for a Component Engineer to support the Supply Operations organization of Kodak's Digital Print Division in Dayton, OH. The Component Engineer will select or validate components used in the company's technology and maintain the component data management system including qualification records, results and documentation. The individual will investigate alternate component technologies or supplies and may be assigned projects focused on reducing cost and improving quality and reliability. The Component Engineer will act as technical interface between component/production suppliers and development engineers, determining new and alternate sources. The engineer will evaluate supplier change notifications and assist with qualification changes, as needed. The Component Engineer will also serve a role in providing engineering support to both current and commercialization teams to ensure compliance of products before market release. Scope of work includes the following:
  • Approving all new components, assigning part numbers and material mastering in SAP
  • Identifying and adding alternative vendors for components
  • End of life coordinator for components, including last time buys
  • Working with all parts of the company, including QA, Purchasing, Engineering, MFG Engineering & Planning
  • Approving all Engineering Change Orders with respect to components 
  • Knowledge of
IEC 62368-1 & EN 62368-1
  • Agency reviewer for components: UL, TUV, CSA, etc.
  • Coordinating with agency approval of components (research, documentation, testing)
  • Constructional Data File (CDF) creation
  • Maintain Agency database
  • Understands and can apply product safety regulations pertaining to electrical equipment (machinery directive & Std EN 60204-1, information technology equipment Std
CSA/UL/IEC/EN 62368-1
)
  • Consults with existing manufacturing teams to ensure compliance of process modifications or new construction
  • Assist in the compliance planning & use of internal and external testing services
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering discipline with 5 to 10 years of professional experience, Electrical Engineering a plus
  • Experience with computer software tools for the production and engineering environment, i.e. SAP, Microsoft applications Excel/Word PC applications
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Access a plus
  • Must be a self-starter with a positive attitude
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplined team environment and across functional boundaries
  • Quality conscious with an attention to detail and ability to follow through
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with equipment product safety compliance (desired)
  • Experience interacting with regulatory agencies (desired)
