Job Description

As a Tooling Design Engineer, your job will be to create concepts and designs for thermoforming and compression tooling utilizing 3D software. This person will work with project managers to layout quoted project scopes and release them to the production floor for manufacturing. They will also be working closely with the end customers to discuss project details, as well as communicating with vendors on component pricing. The key activities and responsibilities of this position will include but are not limited to the following:
  • Must be efficient in 3D design software, experience with NX software is preferred.
  • Must be efficient with surfacing and solid modeling.
  • Review and oversee the manufacturing of designs.
  • Make recommendations to improve production efficiency.
  • Develop and implement design strategies.
  • Collaborate with other engineers, managers, and creative team.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
  • Accurate and precise attention to detail.
  • Creative and innovative thinker and planner. Qualified candidates should possess most of these skills and attributes:
  • Proficient Computer Skills, Strong Communication Skills, Accomplished Problem Solver, Self-Motivator, Organized, Personable, Detail Oriented, Mechanically Inclined. Prior work experience and expertise should include:
  • Minimum of an Associate's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years prior work experience in a design or engineering setting. Automotive related experience is favorable.
  • Experience with plastics, tooling, or molds is preferred.
