Organizational Context and Job Purpose INEOS Nitriles is a global chemicals business with sales volume of 1200 kte and revenue in excess of $3 billion. The Nitriles business has 2 manufacturing operations in the US and 1 in Europe along with offices and headquarters in Rolle, Switzerland and Aurora, Illinois near Chicago. The Nitriles Business primary products include acrylonitrile, hydrogen cyanide, and acetonitrile. Additionally, Nitriles also has a manufacturing operation that produces catalyst for internal use at the Lima Site, globally within Ineos, and for other Acrylonitrile producers. The INEOS Nitriles Plant at Lima is part of an industrial campus which includes a refinery and chemical complex. INEOS share services, utilities, products, and feedstocks with four adjacent manufacturing facilities: Nutrien (ammonia, urea, nitric acid), Fort Amanda Specialties (chelates), Ashland (1,4-butanediol), and Cenovus Refining (propylene, fuels, and refined oil products). The Mechanical Integrity Specialist is responsible for fixed equipment integrity via expertise in standards related to PSM, mechanical engineering, and coordination with Inspections. The Total Quality Management System shall be incorporated into all job activities. All job activities should be executed in a safe and efficient manner consistent with theINEOS 20
Principles. Responsibilities and Accountabilities Practicing and promoting company Safety and Environmental policies and procedures. Working with support organizations and other sites within the Global Nitriles Business to share and implement best practices. Working with operations and maintenance personnel to improve unit reliability. Participating in unit design reviews, management of change process, HAZOPs, and root cause failure analyses as needed. Actively participating in plant turnarounds. Reviewing and evaluating mechanical design drawings and specifications. Evaluating equipment fitness for service and recommending repair options. Reviewing contracts for design and construction management of engineering projects. Acting as project manager on engineering projects and manage project issues, budgets and schedules. Reviewing drawings and equipment to ensure conformance to standards and specifications. Supervising 3rd party contractors. Preparing engineering analysis of projects to include: preliminary design, caluations, life cycle cost and equipment selection. Accountable mechanical integrity of fixed equipment and piping, recommends new designs and improvements to current plant equipment.Troubleshoots problem and recommends solutions. Demonstrates expert level mechanical integrity and design engineering expertise and makes a significant contribution through innovative solutions to complex technical problems. Provides technical input to procurement strategy for piping and equipment and works with Procurement on relevant commercial issues including qualification of equipment fabricators. Provides input into equipment standards which deliver competitive advantage as well as mechanical integrity and reliability. Skills & Knowledge Required Education/Experience Minimum BS Mechanical Engineering 5+ years experience working in petro/chemical facilities in a mechanical integrity role. Skills/Competencies Expertise in PSM Mechanical Integrity Ability to work independently Excellent organizational skills Expertise in API standards, welding and heat-treating procedures MS Office, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook Team oriented Good interpersonal skills; able to deal with both external vendors and employees at all levels Our culture is one of honesty and integrity with an emphasis on safety, health and environmental performance.
