Job Description
Position Profile - Design Engineer Braun was founded with a clear purpose: to support those who serve on the frontlines of emergency response. What began as a pattern shop under the vision of Charles J. Braun has grown into a trusted name in ambulance manufacturing—driven by innovation and a deep understanding of the EMS community. Early on, we recognized a critical need: ambulances built not just to transport, but to perform under pressure. When lives hang in the balance, equipment must be reliable. That insight shaped our mission and helped set a new standard in the industry. Summary of Responsibilities Complete module assembly and detail drawings using SolidWorks on a timely basis while maintaining quality standards. Perform various calculations such as strength of materials, weights, and stresses, frequently using charts and tables. Understand bills of material and routings. Strong mechanical aptitude. Key Responsibilities Determine best design to meet customer requirements Prepare 2D and 3D vehicle and part layouts Design large assemblies Complete detail drawings for new or improved products Design modules on new platforms Prepare bid drawings for customers and dealers Attend trade shows and seminars Meet with vendors and suppliers Update vehicle standards Participate in RDT and business meetings Lead or support product improvement teams Manage special engineering projects Technical Skills & Qualifications Associate Degree required; Bachelor's Degree preferred 5-6 years of design and 3D modeling experience SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM preferred Strong engineering fundamentals Personality Traits / Core Skills Strong verbal and written communication skills Good organizational skills Essential Functions / Physical Requirements Maintain acceptable productivity and quality levels Reliable attendance Operate job-related equipment safely Ability to lift up to 25 pounds with assistance Frequent standing, walking, reaching, and hand use
