Job Description

Job Overview Join our innovative team as a Mechanical Engineering Intern specializing in Metrology! This paid internship offers a dynamic environment where you will gain hands-on experience in precision measurement, mechanical design, and manufacturing processes. You will support the development and calibration of high-accuracy measurement systems, contribute to root cause analysis of measurement discrepancies, and assist in maintaining metrological equipment. Responsibilities Assist in the calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and other dimensional tools. Support the setup and operation of CNC machines, machining equipment, and fabrication tools to produce test components. Contribute to mechanical design projects using CAD software like SolidWorks, Creo, and AutoCAD to develop schematics and detailed drawings. Help MGM select a 3D scanning solution Perform root cause analysis on measurement errors or equipment failures to identify underlying issues and recommend corrective actions. Collaborate with engineering teams on project scheduling, documentation, and process improvements aligned with ASME codes & standards. Help document procedures, create technical drafts, and update schematics for manufacturing and assembly processes. Participate in lab activities involving soldering, welding, equipment repair, and maintenance to support metrology operations. Requirements Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with a strong foundation in mechanical knowledge and math. Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) principles and precision measurement instruments. Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, or AutoCAD for drafting and mechanical design. Basic understanding of programmable logic controllers (PLCs), schematics, and automation systems is a plus. Knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining, fabrication, welding, soldering, and equipment repair. Ability to perform root cause analysis using tools like LabVIEW or other data acquisition systems. Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail; excellent communication skills are preferred.
