JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Process / Mechanical Engineer provides advanced technical expertise and leads engineering efforts for complex process and mechanical systems. This role supports and coordinates multidisciplinary design projects across planning, design, and construction phases. The position ensures high-quality engineering deliverables and supports project execution in regulated environments.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior Engineer plans, organizes, and coordinates engineering design activities for complex mechanical and process systems. Responsibilities include developing and reviewing calculations, specifications, and design documentation related to P&IDs, equipment, and mechanical systems. The role ensures design accuracy, compliance, and alignment with project requirements. The engineer collaborates with project teams, vendors, contractors, and stakeholders to resolve technical issues and support project execution. Additional responsibilities include reviewing construction documents, supporting procurement and vendor evaluations, and contributing to field support activities, including RFIs and design modifications.
WORK HOURS
A standard 40-hour work week is expected. Additional schedule details will be provided by the client. Overtime may be required to meet project deliverables.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS - EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Education:
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering required. Experience /
Skills:
Minimum ten (10) years of related engineering experience Strong experience in mechanical and process system design Expertise in P&IDs, calculations, specifications, and construction documentation Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local codes and standards Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary engineering efforts Strong communication and leadership skills
OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
U.S. Citizenship required Familiarity with computer-aided drafting applications Ability to work in compliance with applicable codes and standards
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Professional Engineer (PE) license Experience supporting DOE or Federal Government projects Nuclear project experience Field or construction experience
