The impact you'll make As a Laboratory Service Engineer at Lam, you are a pivotal force in maintaining and upgrading equipment in our SEM lab. This is not a typical lab; you will be hands-on with state-of-the-art equipment, performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration. You will support innovative equipment through installation and documentation, making you an integral part of our technology's success.

In this role, you will contribute to concept and feasibility hardware efforts to enhance current semiconductor equipment and develop next-generation solutions for our customers. What you'll do Operate in an R& D environment, performing preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, upgrades, and calibrations on equipment. Diagnose and repair coaters, cleaving tools, SEM, FIB, and TEM equipment, including mechanical, electromechanical, electronic, and vacuum systems. Ensure safe handling of hazardous gas and liquid materials while using required personal protective equipment (PPE). Partner with cross-functional teams-including process development, hardware, and software engineering-on R& D activities, customer demonstrations, and equipment support. Install and provide support for prototype equipment, including developing procedures and documentation. Maintain alignment on priorities across tasks that range from dynamic to routine through clear and proactive communication. Operate with limited supervision and own complex tool issues end to end. Be recognized as a technical expert for one or more equipment platforms. Maintain clear alignment on priorities across concurrent workstreams by proactively communicating equipment status, risks, and mitigation plans to engineering and lab leadership. Contribute to lab productivity, cost, and cycle-time improvement initiatives by balancing urgent tool recovery with longer-term reliability and capability goals. Influence lab efficiency, reliability metrics, and safety outcomes. Who we're looking for Bachelor's degree in a technical field with 8+ years of experience; or Associates degree in a technical field or equivalent military training with 10+ years of relevant experience; or equivalent work experience. Preferred qualifications Knowledgeable in sample preparation equipment processes, charged particle beams, and the creation of operations documentation. Experience troubleshooting electrical, electromechanical, fluidic, and vacuum systems. Proficient in the use of a variety of hand tools and electronic test equipment for maintenance, repair, and assembly tasks. Ability to provide technical mentoring and informal leadership to junior engineers or technicians. Capable of working in a laboratory environment while wearing required personal protective equipment.
