Job Title:
Mechanical Engineer Job Description This role focuses on modifying and qualifying mechanical components, updating technical drawings, and supporting product and equipment design activities. The Mechanical Engineer will create and analyze 3D models, manage Bills of Materials and Engineering Change Notices, and collaborate closely with internal teams and external vendors to ensure parts meet design, cost, and quality requirements. This is a long-term opportunity with benefits and paid time off. Essential Skills Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or an Associate of Science in Mechanical Design with strong relevant experience. Proven experience as an individual contributor in equipment and product design. Hands-on experience with 3D CAD design software, ideally Creo (Creo 2.0 preferred). Experience using Product Lifecycle Management tools such as Windchill. Demonstrated ability to create and modify technical drawings and medium-complexity mechanical assemblies. Experience creating and updating Bills of Materials (BOMs). Experience working with Engineering Change Notices (ECNs). Understanding of product and equipment design principles and best practices. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with vendors and internal stakeholders. Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to project teams. Responsibilities Modify and qualify mechanical components for second sourcing to support supply continuity and cost efficiency. Replace and qualify mechanical tooling while improving cost efficiency and manufacturability. Update mechanical part drawings to accurately reflect both current and original design intent. Create 3D models to evaluate proposed changes in part and assembly designs. Execute Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) to add or modify parts and Bills of Materials (BOMs). Create and update Bills of Materials (BOMs) for mechanical components and assemblies. Analyze mechanical design data and dimensional measurements to verify conformance to specifications. Review and evaluate capability studies provided by mechanical tooling vendors. Determine whether parts meet customer product requirements based on engineering data and testing feedback. Support product testing activities in the test lab by providing accurate designs, drawings, and documentation. Adhere to all required safety guidelines in design, documentation, and lab or equipment-related activities. Support the project lead in design reviews by preparing models, drawings, and technical input. Document work thoroughly, including design changes, analysis results, and ECN/BOM updates. Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external vendors to clarify requirements, resolve issues, and ensure timely project progress. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience designing pneumatic equipment, tools, and dies. Understanding of manufacturing equipment safety requirements. Experience in error-proofing assembly processes. Experience with plastic part design and manufacturing processes. Experience with other 3D design packages beyond Creo. Strong documentation skills and attention to detail in drawings, ECNs, and BOMs. Work Environment This is an onsite role in a professional engineering and manufacturing environment. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, and test lab personnel, while using tools such as 3D CAD software (ideally Creo) and PLM systems like Windchill. The position offers a long-term engagement with benefits, including paid time off and paid holidays. Work involves time at a computer for design and documentation, as well as interaction with vendors and periodic presence in lab or shop areas where adherence to safety guidelines and appropriate attire are required. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Coopersburg, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $48.00/hr.
