Nuclear Plant Mechanical Design Engineer (Senior) Westinghouse Electric Company | Rock Hill, SC Do you thrive on solving intricate mechanical problems in safety‑critical environments? Ready to put your expertise to work on operating assets and next‑gen reactor technologies? Step into a senior role where engineering rigor meets real‑world impact. Your mission As part of Westinghouse's Operating Plants Mechanical Systems team, you'll help ensure reliable performance across operating nuclear fleets while advancing projects like AP1000 and eVinci. You'll pair hands‑on analysis with cross‑discipline collaboration to deliver solutions that meet stringent codes and standards. How you'll contribute Lead and support design, analysis, and evaluation of mechanical systems using industry‑standard engineering tools within a multi‑discipline team.

Apply engineering fundamentals and codes/standards (ASME, ANSI) to produce defensible, compliant designs.

Prepare formal calculations and reports to ASME Section III and other international code requirements.

Diagnose and resolve technical issues for operating plants, new nuclear builds (e.g., AP1000, eVinci), and fuel fabrication facilities.

Collaborate closely with electrical and civil/structural engineers; contribute effectively on project teams.

Engage directly with customers and vendors to present technical content and justify product and service designs.

Execute work within established scope, budget, and schedule. What you'll need B.S. degree in Mechanical (preferred), Civil, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering. Current EIT and PE licensure. 5-10 years of engineering experience. Experience in the power industry; nuclear plant experience is well aligned with the role. Rewards We are committed to transparency and equity in all people practices. The estimated base salary range for this position is $106,500 to $127,800 per year, dependent on experience, qualifications, and skills.
