Job Description

Job Title:
Mechanical Engineer Job Description We are seeking a skilled Project Engineer to manage engineering projects, including commissioning, installations, and analysis. The mechanical engineer will serve as a capital project manager on equipment rebuilds and new equipment installations. This role acts as a technical resource for plant maintenance and manufacturing departments, contributing positively to the safety, quality, and productivity of plant operations.
Responsibilities Project Management:
Manage simultaneous projects in capital and expense divisions, including financial responsibility for project cost estimation, cash flows, requisitioning, and budget management. Develop project business cases with plant customer sponsorship, generate equipment specifications, review proposals, and develop scopes of work. Ensure compliance with internal and external laws and regulations. Manage resources from external engineering firms and communicate project reports to internal project owners. Oversee contractor and company labor forces to complete work safely, on time, and within budget.
Manufacturing Plant Support:
Provide engineering assistance to maintenance and manufacturing departments. Develop solutions for ongoing maintenance/reliability problems and evaluate equipment upgrades. Facilitate updates of drawings and manuals to reflect changes made by maintenance. Troubleshoot existing systems and coordinate/provide training and equipment documentation. Collaborate with electrical and MIS engineers to build machine control software and data collection systems that satisfy project requirements. Essential Skills Capex Experience BS degree in Engineering Heavy industrial background Experience in Autocad, FEA, machine design, and mechanical engineering 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience Experience in capital project management Additional Skills & Qualifications Solidworks experience is a plus Experience in foundry and metals BS degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred Work Environment This position is primarily office-based but requires measuring equipment in the plant. The dress code is casual, and jeans are acceptable. The role involves approximately 75% of time spent in a cubicle in engineering and 25% in the plant, requiring a willingness to get hands dirty. The environment is a union setting, but this engineering role is non-union. The engineering team consists of around 20 people. The facility is the largest aluminum extruder in North America and serves as the flagship plant, offering challenging work, numerous engineering projects, and opportunities for upward mobility to management roles. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cressona, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $60.00/hr.
