Principal Mechanical Engineer A leading multidisciplinary architecture and engineering consultancy is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineering Leader to drive business growth, client development, and strategic leadership within its Engineering practice. There will be a particular focus on the Science&Tech, Commercial, Industrial and Higher Education spaces, so Mechanical experience in these areas is essential. This senior leadership role combines business development, market expansion, client relationship management, and operational oversight. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing growth strategies, identifying new business opportunities, strengthening existing client relationships, and contributing to the overall profitability and direction of the business. Key Responsibilities Develop and execute business development and growth strategies. Identify and secure new project opportunities with existing and prospective clients. Build and maintain strong client relationships. Lead strategic planning initiatives, market expansion, and diversification efforts. Collaborate with regional and multidisciplinary teams to align business objectives. Monitor market trends and competitive activity to identify opportunities and mitigate risks. Support operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives. Requirements Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering. Strong understanding of building systems, including mechanical, electrical, structural, and architectural design considerations. Significant experience in business development, client management, project management, and strategic leadership within the A/E industries Proven ability to generate and win substantial project revenue. Excellent leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills. Professional registration or membership with a relevant engineering association is advantageous. Ideal Background Principal, Director, Practice Leader, or Senior Engineering Manager within an MEP, consulting engineering, or multidisciplinary A/E environments. Demonstrated success growing client accounts, winning work, and leading high-performing teams.
