The Detail Capacity Engineering (DCE) group under the Wireline Network Operations And Engineering organization is responsible for equipment engineering, implementation engineering, and equipment inventory for networks supporting Next Gen Packet Core (NGPC), Multi-Service Edge (MSE), PPR, BNG, Public IP, Private IP, and Network. DCE engineers and manages multiple simultaneous projects from project analysis and detail design, through information gathering from the field, to ultimate creation of an Install Specification. The position requires involvement throughout a build's lifecycle, particularly to resolve technical issues as they arise.
Responsibilities:
Create detailed, often complex, technical installation instructions (I-SPECs) for new and existing technologies as per Standards. Ensure engineering instructions include project-specific installation details, equipment configurations, card/port assignments/requirements, power mapping and sizing, copper and fiber cable running lists, diversity requirements, floor space & rack placement, and a detailed major/minor Bill of Materials. Create Pre-Engineering/Site Survey documentation for network projects; create Front Door Requests for installations at Telecommunication sites. Ensure that work meets all applicable engineering, financial, planning, and operational standards. Interface with Center Engineering, Field Engineering, Operations, and other Implementation organizations to obtain critical pre-engineering information, site specific data, as well as redlines and other end-of-job information. Provide technical guidance, as needed, on First Office Application (FOA) projects, using knowledge of existing installation configurations and extrapolating feasible solutions. Ensure all engineering documentation (including ICON/CND, CCP, Canvas, VENUe, etc.) is accurate and up-to-date for use by Install, Test, Implementation, Operations, Provisioning, Planning, Network Capacity Manager, Service Assurance, and Audit teams. Resolve a wide array of engineering issues in coordination with other internal/external organizations. Manage multiple simultaneous projects and provide timely updates to upgrade or reconfigure the network in support of new Customer Growth, as well as decommissioning activities to free space/power and generate cost savings. Accurately identify, monitor, report, escalate, coordinate, and drive engineering issues (both small and complex) to resolution. Maintain excellent communication with Project Sponsor/Originator, Functional Team Members and Direct Management to ensure early identification of issues and timely reporting of status.
Must Have Skills/Qualifications:
5-10 years related experience with Equipment/Detailed Engineering. Previous experience with Engineering systems & Databases. Strong computer skills including proficiency in the MS Office suite. Fluent in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Highly motivated, self-supervised, customer focused individual with organizational and leadership skills to push all projects to completion. Strong knowledge in job related functional area and of the telecommunications business. Technical degree strongly preferred Hybrid working model with limited days in office per week. The days in office may increase if business needs change. Initial training period of 60 days or less will require more frequent time in the office. Ampcus is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
