M-F Job#: 18630 A fast-paced engineering team is seeking a Mechanical, Opto-Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineer with broad experience in design, fabrication, structural and thermal analysis, integration, and testing of advanced prototype systems. Experience with mechanisms, opto-mechanical systems, airborne payloads, and environmental testing is highly desirable. The successful candidate will work within small multidisciplinary teams on fast-paced prototype development efforts supporting the design, testing, and fielding of advanced systems. Projects are typically short-duration efforts (6-12 months) and may include airborne testing, field testing, ground vehicle integration, and technology transition activities. This role requires close collaboration with subject matter experts across multiple technical disciplines to support system-level engineering and rapid prototype execution. Responsibilities Support the design, fabrication, integration, testing, and troubleshooting of advanced prototype systems. Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities involving mechanical, thermal, optical, and electronic subsystems. Develop and evaluate opto-mechanical solutions including mounting, alignment, packaging, and environmental ruggedization of sensors and components. Perform systems engineering activities to ensure successful integration of payloads onto airborne platforms. Support field testing of airborne and ground-based assets. Assist with integration, alignment, measurement, actuation, and mechanism development for prototype systems. Generate fabrication and assembly documentation to support prototype builds. Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to meet aggressive demonstration and testing schedules. Participate in prototype environmental and performance testing activities. Required Skills Proficiency with SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM. Extensive hands-on experience with:

Ability to perform systems engineering activities related to airborne sensor integration. Experience conducting field testing involving airborne assets. Broad technical understanding of:
Optical sensors Optical materials Optical fibers Lasers Opto-mechanical systems such as telescopes, gimbals, and optical mounts Experience with optical system design, fabrication, mounting, alignment, enclosure development, and testing. Strong communication and collaboration skills in multidisciplinary engineering environments. Basic project management capabilities. Preferred Skills Familiarity with optical design software such as CodeV or Zemax. Background in structural, thermal, or aerodynamic analysis using tools such as SolidWorks Simulation or NASTRAN/PATRAN.
Experience coordinating and executing environmental or performance testing programs. Experience with multiple fabrication methods including traditional machining and additive manufacturing. Experience designing and testing:
Mechanisms Sensors Test equipment Integrated systems Experience with EO/IR and optical-mechanical system development. Experience with mounting, adjustment, and actuation systems. Familiarity with aircraft payload integration and applicable FAA regulations. Education and Experience Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline with 3+ years of relevant experience, OR Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience. Clearance Requirement Interim clearance sufficient to begin work. Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance may be required for future program support. Additional Information Position is 100% onsite. Some limited remote flexibility may be available periodically, but this is not a consistent hybrid role.
