Job Title:
Mechanical Engineer Job Description Join a leading global automotive technology supplier headquartered in France, renowned for its expertise in sustainable mobility, advanced cockpit experiences, and lighting solutions. With half of the world's vehicles equipped with our products, we are seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer to join our design team at the PPIC Tooling and Equipment center, focusing on emissions control technologies. In this role, you will support tooling and equipment designs, conduct design reviews, and manage product/process changes. Responsibilities Define the concept of tooling and equipment, including isostatism, positioning, and tool change. Prepare sketches to assess feasibility throughout tooling and equipment operations. Interface with the Product Process Simulation Specialist for process and tooling. Create 3D designs using Solidworks. Coordinate with external design resources. Conduct design reviews with tooling engineers and PML to receive approval for designs. Complete 2D drawings of tooling and equipment components. Generate bill of materials for tooling and equipment. Manage changes for product and process by modifying designs. Provide support for tool manufacturing when design changes or problems arise during the manufacturing phase. Define new standard specifications for equipment. Essential Skills Minimum of five years of mechanical design experience. Experience with automation machine design, including material handling, welding, and part transfer. Proficiency in Solidworks, machine design, mechanical engineering, and tooling. Associates degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Electrical Engineering Technology. Knowledge in MIG welding, canning, muffler, gauging, and tube forming. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Electrical Engineering Technology. Automotive experience is a plus. Work Environment Work in a climate-controlled, clean prototype facility. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with onsite work required from Monday to Thursday and work-from-home on Fridays. You will have your own desk and monitor alongside other mechanical engineers. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbus, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $48.08/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
