Job Description Position Summary:
The Mechanical Integrity Engineer works closely with peers in Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and SHE to ensure safe, reliable, efficient, and effective operations of the plant. The role is responsible for planning and delivering mechanical and civil engineering activities at the Ashtabula Site, ensuring compliance with external legal requirements and internal standards. The engineer will also be appointed as the Asset Engineer, overseeing asset condition and integrity and managing the mechanical integrity program to meet current and future performance targets. Responsibilities
  • Engineering Standard Maintenance o Maintain plant mechanical and civil engineering standards to comply with statutory and company standards.
o Fully understand and implement relevant legal requirements, codes, and engineering standards/processes. o Maintain the list of coded vessels and associated documentation. o Provide technical guidance for repair plans/designs that meet local, national, and company standards. o Act as the key point of contact for regulatory bodies related to equipment design and codes.
  • Performance Indicators - Number of audit findings, AsCare Score, 10P Audit Score (areas related to role).
  • Management of the Mechanical Integrity Program o Define, implement, and manage programs to ensure assets and protective systems are maintained.
o Maintain an updated list of critical assets and protective systems. o Ensure inspection regimens for critical assets and protective systems are defined and functioning as intended. o Evaluate and implement inspection findings to continuously improve maintenance of assets.
  • Performance Indicators - Downtime related to asset integrity, adherence to MI program budget.
  • Asset Performance, Maintenance, and Asset Engineer o Define and implement asset maintenance programs and procedures to improve or maintain asset condition and performance.
o Manage preventative and predictive maintenance programs related to mechanical integrity. o Work with operations and maintenance teams to fully understand breakdown issues and support development of equipment-specific policies and design changes to improve asset integrity. o Conduct an annual review of asset conditions to maintain an asset life plan. o Act as the asset engineer, responsible for maintaining site assets and protective systems integrity.
Qualifications:
Requirements
  • B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or other engineering discipline.
  • 5 years of manufacturing experience, ideally in a chemical manufacturing plant (preferred).
  • 3 years of experience in a related reliability role (preferred). Technical Skills
  • Ability to apply technical engineering experience to implement global mechanical integrity standards and improve SHE and reliability performance.
  • Knowledge of key factors contributing to damage in plant equipment, piping, and tanks, with the ability to select suitable inspection methods, identify causes of failure, and recommend preventative actions.
  • Knowledge of internal and external inspection and monitoring methods, with the ability to predict areas prone to corrosion or erosion and recommend suitable remedial actions.
  • Familiarity with process safety management.
