Job Title:
Mechanical Systems Engineer Job Description The Mechanical Systems Engineer is responsible for the end-to-end mechanical system design of large-scale automated material handling and industrial systems. This role acts as a critical link between conceptual design, detailed engineering, and manufacturing or installation, ensuring that all mechanical designs are accurate, buildable, and fully aligned with customer and project requirements. Responsibilities Lead complete mechanical system design for complex, modular systems from initial concept through to production. Develop system layouts and detailed mechanical designs based on project specifications and sales-level concepts. Create and modify CAD drawings to deliver practical, manufacturable mechanical solutions. Design and integrate mechanical components such as conveyor or track systems into larger automated solutions. Develop conveyance and sorting mechanisms that support efficient material handling and industrial operations. Design platforms, supports, and structural interfaces that ensure stability, safety, and ease of maintenance. Engineer belts, bins, lifting aids, and related mechanical assemblies to meet performance and reliability requirements. Support projects as they transition from design through manufacturing and installation, ensuring design intent is maintained. Maintain strong attention to detail and ensure documentation accuracy throughout the design and project lifecycle. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including software and electrical engineers, to deliver integrated systems. Essential Skills Proven experience in mechanical system design for large-scale automated material handling or industrial systems. Strong mechanical engineering background with expertise in system design and layout development. Proficiency in CAD tools, including the ability to create and modify detailed mechanical drawings. Experience supporting projects through the full lifecycle from design into manufacturing or installation. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to documentation accuracy. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, for calculations, documentation, and reporting. Solid understanding of mechanical design principles, systems engineering, and systems design. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with new product development in a mechanical or industrial systems environment. background in designing conveyance or sorting mechanisms and related material handling equipment. Experience integrating platforms, supports, structural interfaces, belts, bins, and lifting aids into complete systems. Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams, including software and electrical disciplines. Interest in working within a global organization with visibility across multiple business units. Ability to work effectively in remote or hybrid arrangements when appropriate for the role. Work Environment This role is based within a product and controls-focused office environment that supports the design and delivery of industrial systems for the laundry and material handling markets. The broader organization operates multiple business units and sales offices across the globe, offering international travel opportunities and visibility within a global network. The local team consists of approximately 45 professionals, including software engineers, mechanical engineers, and electrical engineers, fostering a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. The company offers opportunities for upward and lateral mobility into different business units, as well as potential remote or hybrid work options for the right individual. Work involves regular use of CAD software, standard office productivity tools, and close coordination with manufacturing and installation teams. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Panama City, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $67500.00/yr.
