Job Title:
Piping Engineer Job Description We are seeking a skilled Piping Engineer to join our team in supporting nuclear power plant projects. As part of one of the top nuclear engineering firms in the USA, you will be involved in facility upgrades, improvements, and modifications for nuclear power plant projects. This role offers the opportunity to work with large clients and contribute to meaningful engineering advancements in the energy and utility industry. Responsibilities Prepare and/or review calculations producing engineering designs for piping systems. Perform code qualification calculations according to ASME B31.1 and/or Section III codes, with a focus on Class 2/3 and Class 1 stress code qualification. Utilize industry software such as ME101, AutoPIPE, and other piping analysis tools; proficiency in FEA software like ANSYS is advantageous. Develop calculations and drawings for pipe hangers, snubbers, spring cans, and linear supports. Create specifications for piping, valves, and components. Perform nozzle stress qualifications and contribute to component or vessel design. Complete documentation with strong verbal and written communication skills. Engage in field engineering and construction assignments, including site walkdowns. Participate in the nuclear design change process (Standard Design Process). Essential Skills Bachelor's Degree in Civil-Structural and/or Mechanical Engineering. PE preferred (licensed in any state). 3+ years of progressive engineering experience with commercial, industrial, or government clients. Familiarity with applicable codes and standards: ASME Section
III B&PV, B31
series (B31.1 preferred). Proficient in using engineering/design software such as AutoPIPE, ME-101, and stress analysis software like ANSYS or STRUDL. Experience in piping analysis, including normal, thermal, dynamic, vibration, seismic response spectrum analysis, and Time History analysis. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Additional Skills & Qualifications Prior experience working with nuclear facilities preferred. Experience in a consulting engineering environment or with a utility is highly desirable. Experience with ME101, AutoPIPE, SuperPipe, Laser Scanning, and GTStrudl. Knowledge and experience in ASME Section III, preferably with Class I, Class II, and Class III. Work Environment Enjoy the flexibility of working remotely from anywhere in the US, with preference for locations such as Illinois, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Louisiana, or Arkansas. The company offers potential for a long-term contract or a 6-month contract-to-hire, with the benefit of half-day Fridays for all employees. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Naperville, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $95.00/hr.
