Exterior Components Location:
Warren, MI. Hybrid work schedule.
Pay:
$58-62/hour
Hours:
8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Long term contract to hire Position Summary We are seeking a Project Engineer to support design and release engineering for exterior automotive components, including bumpers, grilles, fascias, and trim. This role will support upfront design and development, program launch, current product execution, and continuous improvement activities. The Project Engineer will manage assigned components, coordinate cross-functionally with internal and external teams, and drive issue resolution related to quality, cost, manufacturing, warranty, and assembly plant concerns. Key Responsibilities Lead design and release activities for exterior components, including bumpers, grilles, fascias, and trim. Manage component development from design through launch and current product support. Own and maintain assigned parts lists while ensuring program milestones are met on time and with quality. Work closely with studio, program teams, purchasing, supplier quality, suppliers, manufacturing, and other cross-functional groups. Lead root cause analysis and problem-solving efforts for warranty, manufacturing, assembly plant, and quality issues. Lead Product Development Team meetings to drive issue resolution, quality improvements, cost reductions, and design optimization. Participate in daily, weekly, and monthly cross-functional team meetings. Support continuous improvement activities for current product and launch execution. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field. Minimum of 2 years of relevant engineering experience. Design/release engineering experience. Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams. Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio. Preferred Qualifications Automotive industry experience. GM systems experience. Experience with exterior components, trim, fascias, grilles, or bumper systems. Experience supporting program launch or current product engineering. Work Environment Hybrid schedule with Monday and Friday remote; onsite Tuesday through Thursday and as needed. Open office environment with high interaction across teams.
