About us UR Engineering is a mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire alarm engineering (MEP/FA) and consulting company located in Philadelphia, PA. Our goal is to provide our clients with a reliable and competent MEP/FA partner for their projects in Philadelphia and other locations. Email cover letter and resume to ADMIN@URENGINEERING.NET . We look forward to reviewing your application. We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support ongoing commercial and multi-family design projects. This role is primarily hybrid, with minimal travel, and will focus on HVAC/Plumbing systems design, construction documentation, and coordination across multidisciplinary teams. This is a high-impact role supporting projects similar in scale to large scale multifamily, affordable housing, and large commercial buildings .
Responsibilities:
Design and develop HVAC/Plumbing systems for commercial buildings and large scale multifamily buildings. Produce and review construction documents, specifications, and calculations Perform load calculations, equipment sizing, and system layouts Collaborate with architects, electrical, plumbing, and structural teams Support renovation, retrofit, and new construction projects Conduct site assessments and occasional field verification (<10% travel) Ensure designs meet codes, standards, and client requirements Participate in value engineering and cost-effective design solutions Review contractor submittals and respond to
RFIs Minimum Requirement:
Active Professional Engineer (PE) license (any U.S. state) preferred 5-10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering (building systems) Strong background in commercial construction projects Experience with affordable housing/commercial buildings (highly preferred) Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit (BIM) Knowledge of HVAC/Plumbing systems, codes, and standards (ASHRAE, IBC, etc.) Experience with construction-phase support and coordination
