Duties include selecting equipment and materials, developing engineering concepts into equipment specifications, Requests for Proposal (RFPs), and final mechanical designs. Collect, analyze, interpret, and communicate critical project information while maintaining databases related to equipment and project data. Collaborate with structural, electrical, and chemical engineering disciplines on design-build projects. A four-year engineering degree is required. Prepare subcontractor bid packages for piping, millwright, insulation, and related scopes of work. Conduct site visits to ensure subcontractor work complies with project drawings and specifications, and coordinate with site superintendents to resolve construction-related questions and issues. Perform cost estimating, develop proposal documents for mechanical project scopes, and assist with equipment commissioning and startup activities. Work closely with equipment vendors to obtain quotations and generate purchase orders. Develop and maintain 3D piping and equipment models while performing drafting, design, and detailing for assigned projects. Coordinate with electrical and structural engineering teams regarding pipe routing, equipment placement, and spatial considerations in accordance with established drafting and design standards. Prepare detailed mechanical drawings, layouts, plans, piping systems, and equipment documentation based on project requirements and specifications.
