Job Description

Fluids GSE Design Engineer III | Austin, TX An innovative and rapidly growing aerospace company is looking for a Fluids GSE Design Engineer III to play a key role in the development of next-generation launch infrastructure, test stands, and production systems. This position offers the opportunity to work across the full lifecycle of complex fluid systems, supporting mission-critical operations in a fast-paced and highly collaborative engineering environment. Key Responsibilities Design and develop ground-based fluid systems, including P&IDs, system layouts, and engineering documentation Perform pipe and tube sizing calculations for cryogenic, compressible, and multiphase fluid systems Specify and select system components such as valves, fittings, insulation, and coatings Support fabrication, installation, commissioning, and operation of fluid systems Produce detailed engineering drawings and work instructions Collaborate closely with technicians and construction teams to ensure efficient system build and integration Lead and participate in internal and external design reviews and readiness reviews Develop and execute test procedures, including system activation and validation Troubleshoot system issues and manage non-conformance processes Ensure compliance with relevant engineering codes and standards (ASME, ANSI, API, NFPA) Support ongoing system maintenance, upgrades, and performance optimisation Travel to test and launch sites as required (approximately 30%) Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline Strong understanding of fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and thermodynamics Proven experience designing and building fluid or ground support systems Background in aerospace, R&D, energy, or oil & gas environments Ability to balance detailed engineering tasks with project coordination responsibilities Strong communication skills and ability to work across multidisciplinary teams Minimum of 5 years' experience working with fluid systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, or HVAC systems Experience with cryogenic systems Willingness to travel up to 30% Preferred Qualifications Experience with control systems such as DCS, SCADA, or instrumentation and data acquisition systems Proficiency in 3D CAD tools (Siemens NX or similar) Experience developing test and operational procedures Familiarity with ASME and aerospace-related standards 7+ years of relevant industry experience Hands-on experience building and troubleshooting complex mechanical or fluid systems Additional Information This is an onsite role based in Austin, Texas Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-performance engineering environment Opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge aerospace and spaceflight programmes ...
