Job Description
The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and production readiness of outdoor furniture products. This role owns the full engineering process—from concept and CAD modeling through prototyping and manufacturing implementation. The position requires a strong understanding of metal fabrication, CNC processes, and product durability in outdoor environments. The engineer will work closely with fabrication teams to ensure designs are efficient, cost-effective, and scalable for production. Key outputs of this role include detailed CAD models, engineering drawings, and accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs), all aligned with manufacturing requirements. Core Responsibilities Design and develop outdoor furniture systems, components, and assemblies Create 3D CAD models and production-ready drawings Generate and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs) for all products Prepare designs for manufacturing, including CNC cutting, forming, and welding Collaborate with fabrication teams to prototype and refine products Optimize designs for cost, efficiency, and scalability Select appropriate materials and finishes for outdoor durability Support development of standardized and modular product lines Identify and implement improvements in product design and production processes Required Qualifications Experience in mechanical design or product engineering Proficiency in CAD software Knowledge of metal fabrication processes (cutting, welding, bending) Experience with CNC machining and/or CAM workflows Ability to produce detailed engineering drawings and documentation Experience creating and managing BOMs Understanding of materials and finishes for outdoor applications (corrosion resistance, UV exposure) Comfortable working in both office and shop environments
