The role involves designing, developing, and testing mechanical components, equipment, and machinery, anding engineering principles to create products such as engines, instruments, controls, robots, and machines. The engineer conducts product testing, creates models and prototypes, and coordinates fabrication, installation, operation, maintenance, and repair activities. Contributes to moderately complex project work and operates both independently and collaboratively.
Key Responsibilities:
Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application. Design robotic control systems using electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic principles. Participate in fabrication and installation to ensure compliance with design and customer specifications. Coordinate operation, maintenance, and repair activities to optimize equipment utilization. Design systems integrating machines, hardware, and software. Evaluate field installations and recommend design modifications to resolve system issues. Contribute to and participate in design reviews.
Mandatory skills:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (Master's preferred). 5-7 years of mechanical engineering experience. 5-7 years of product and machine design experience using SolidWorks, Pro-E, or Catia. Proficiency in CAD/SolidWorks design tools. Experience documenting design reviews and requirements. Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA). Ability to perform hand calculations of stresses. Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing). Proficiency with math tools such as Matlab or Mathcad. Familiarity with Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA). Understanding of manufacturing processes. Familiarity with patent law. Basic understanding of software development. Experience with systems involving heavy equipment, hydraulics, gearing, and motors. The pay range that the employer in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position is $36.98/hour
