Our client, a chemicals operator, has a permanent opportunity for a Mechanical Integrity Engineer to be based in El Paso, Texas. Job Summary This position will be responsible for leading the site Mechanical Integrity inspection program while providing maintenance and reliability engineering support for a chemical processing facility. The role will focus on improving asset reliability, ensuring regulatory compliance, and enhancing overall equipment performance across the site. Key Responsibilities Reliability Engineering & Asset Performance Provide technical leadership for monitoring and inspection of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation/control systems to improve reliability Define condition monitoring requirements and lead Predictive and Preventive Maintenance programs Support reliability improvement initiatives and long-term asset integrity strategies Inspection, Compliance & Mechanical Integrity Oversee inspections in accordance with
API 510, API
570, and API 653 standards Ensure compliance with RAGAGEP and
OSHA 1910.119
Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements Manage and implement corrosion monitoring programs including PSAIM® Ensure inspection and repair activities are documented in accordance with regulatory and corporate MIQA standards Documentation & Reporting Develop and maintain standardized inspection and maintenance plans Review post-inspection reports and drive recommendations through to closure Maintain equipment inspection history and inspection plans within SAP and site systems Track and report reliability and MIQA performance metrics Repair, Maintenance & Field Support Develop repair plans for fixed equipment Coordinate maintenance activities, repair execution, and equipment installations to ensure compliance and quality standards Administer field contractor activities related to repairs and inspection services Quality Assurance & Technical Oversight Develop QA/QC plans and Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) for new equipment fabrication and installation Coordinate quality inspections at vendor facilities and onsite Review NDE results, determine corrective actions, and ensure completion Perform engineering calculations including minimum allowable thickness and remaining useful life assessments Project & Program Management Coordinate contract inspection and NDE activities, including field execution oversight Identify and execute reliability and site improvement projects Lead minor capital projects and support Management of Change (MOC) activities Participate in design reviews and provide recommendations to improve equipment reliability Safety & Leadership Ensure all activities comply with safety and environmental requirements Serve as a member of the site Process Safety Management (PSM) Committee with emphasis on Mechanical Integrity and Quality Assurance Participate in corporate MIQA initiatives and lead implementation efforts at the site level Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required; Mechanical Engineering preferred Minimum 2 years of experience supporting Mechanical Integrity and Quality Assurance programs or maintenance supervision Minimum 2 years of experience within high-hazard chemical processing, refining, or similar industrial environments Working knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) Experience with CMMS platforms; SAP experience preferred Ability to support plant operations in an on-call capacity as required Preferred Technical Experience Familiarity with
API 510, API 570, API 653, ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3, NBIC, NACE
