Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Failure Analysis Engineer to join our innovative engineering team. This role involves diagnosing complex electronic and mechanical failures, developing effective solutions, and supporting product reliability. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical and mechanical systems, proficiency in advanced analysis tools, and experience with manufacturing processes. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge projects in a dynamic environment focused on system design, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement. Duties Conduct root cause analysis on electronic, mechanical, and system failures using diagnostic tools such as oscilloscopes, ohmmeters, vision inspection systems, and firmware debugging techniques. Analyze PCB designs, schematics, and system architectures utilizing AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, SolidWorks, and CAD software to identify potential failure points. Develop and test prototypes or modifications using surface mount technology (SMT), soldering techniques, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs). Utilize simulation tools like MATLAB, Simulink, SystemVerilog, and C++ for system modeling and performance evaluation. Perform signal processing analysis and firmware development using Python, Perl, scripting languages, and ARM-based microcontrollers such as Arduino. Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams on system design improvements involving FPGA development, SoC integration, electrical systems, and mechanical engineering principles. Support manufacturing processes by providing technical guidance on surface mount technology (SMT), NEC standards, and quality assurance procedures including vision inspection systems. Document findings thoroughly and prepare detailed reports outlining failure modes and corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Assist in project scheduling to ensure timely completion of failure investigations aligned with product release timelines. Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering or related field. Proven experience with root cause analysis in electronics or mechanical systems; familiarity with FPGA design, PCB layout, schematic capture (Schematics), and system design. Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation or SolidWorks; experience with Revit is a plus. Strong knowledge of electrical systems including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), surface mount technology (SMT), soldering techniques, electrical troubleshooting with ohmmeters. Hands-on experience with firmware development using C++, Python, Perl or scripting languages; ARM microcontrollers like Arduino are desirable. Familiarity with signal processing techniques and simulation tools such as MATLAB or Simulink. Knowledge of manufacturing standards including NEC codes; experience working with vision inspection systems is advantageous. Mechanical knowledge related to surface mount technology (SMT), surface mount devices (SMD), mechanical assembly processes. Ability to perform debugging at both hardware and firmware levels; experience with quantum engineering is a plus but not required. Excellent analytical skills combined with strong communication abilities for technical reporting and team collaboration.
