Full-Time Position Summary The PSE Equipment Engineer is responsible for the installation, setup, maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and Dual-In-Line Package (DIP) production equipment and processes. This role ensures optimal equipment performance to support high-quality and efficient PCB assembly operations. The engineer works closely with cross-functional teams—including Production, Quality, and Process Engineering—to drive manufacturing excellence, minimize downtime, and meet production targets. Key Responsibilities Install, configure, and maintain SMT/DIP production equipment, including but not limited to: Screen printers (e.g., DEK, GKG) Pick-and-place machines (e.g., Panasonic NPM) Reflow ovens (e.g., REHM) Selective soldering machines (e.g., Ersa) Press-fit machines, gluing machines, routers, conveyors, and pallet carrier systems Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures and implement corrective and preventive actions to reduce downtime and improve reliability Develop, implement, and maintain preventive maintenance schedules and associated documentation Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities by ensuring equipment readiness, process capability, and successful line setup Coordinate with equipment vendors and suppliers regarding technical support, upgrades, and spare parts procurement Train operators and technicians on proper equipment operation, safety procedures, and basic troubleshooting Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable safety, quality, and environmental standards Participate actively in PSE department meetings, including M360 dialogue sessions, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in SMT/DIP manufacturing, equipment engineering, or maintenance
Technical Skills:
Experience working with SMT/DIP equipment such as Panasonic
NPM, DEK/GKG
printers, REHM ovens, Ersa selective soldering, Juki auto-insertion, and related systems Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical manuals Working knowledge of PLC systems, electrical troubleshooting, and mechanical systems Familiarity with IPC standards and ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) practices
Competencies:
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Effective communication and teamwork skills Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and manage multiple priorities
Preferred Qualifications:
IPC Certification Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification Work Environment & Physical Requirements (Recommended addition for compliance) Work is primarily performed in a manufacturing environment May require standing for extended periods, lifting up to 25 lbs, and working with machinery Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
