Job Description

Mechanical Engineer - Katy, TX Position Summary The Mechanical Engineer supports the design, development, and production of mechanical systems for turbine-based power generation products. This role is responsible for full mechanical design ownership, including product structure and bill of materials development, while ensuring designs are manufacturable, cost-effective, and compliant with safety and quality standards. The Mechanical Engineer works closely with electrical, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to support product development, assembly, and continuous improvement efforts across multiple product platforms. Key Responsibilities Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies, including castings, machined parts, weldments, and sheet metal using CAD software Create detailed mechanical layouts, piping systems, and installation plans aligned with project specifications and safety requirements Develop complex models and assemblies to meet performance, durability, and manufacturability objectives Select materials based on mechanical performance, application needs, and cost considerations Define and assess manufacturing processes such as machining, fabrication, and additive manufacturing Create and maintain engineering drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and revision documentation Prepare assembly instructions, installation guides, and technical support materials Collaborate with manufacturing and procurement teams to ensure production readiness and supplier alignment Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and root cause analysis activities Support cost reduction, performance improvement, and sustainability initiatives through design optimization Work cross-functionally with electrical, structural, and manufacturing teams to integrate systems and resolve technical challenges Stay current on emerging technologies, materials, and manufacturing techniques relevant to power generation systems Essential Skills 5+ years of professional experience in Mechanical Engineering. 5+ years of experience in Solidworks, GD&T, and ASME. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, such as Mechatronics or Manufacturing Engineering. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with Packaging Equipment is a plus. Proficiency in 3D modeling, AutoCAD, and drafting. Knowledge of finite element analysis (FEA), PLM, ERP, and Excel. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Katy, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $57.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
