Our engineering team is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to help lead the technical development of complex mechanical and electro-mechanical solutions, guide and mentor junior engineers, and manage projects to completion. Mechanical Engineering at M3 Design M3 Design thrives on creativity, curiosity, and a hands-on approach to engineering. Our engineering team helps design and implement successful products and experiences for our clients and their customers. We transition ideas from concept all the way to production. Throughout the design process we work closely with clients to ensure successful outcomes. We work on consumer and business-to-business products, wearables, medical devices, capital equipment, experiences, and a wide range of other products. These systems may include mechanisms, motion systems, high and low volume parts, optics, electronics, and sensing. What you'll do... As a senior member of the engineering team, you will contribute and lead projects to create products informed by our stakeholder-centered design process. You will work closely with M3's industrial design and UI/UX teams to develop products across the entire development lifecycle from strategy to concept to detailed development to manufacturing handoff. As an engineer at M3 Design you will brainstorm and conceptualize solutions and evaluate these concepts with mock-ups and prototypes. You will fully develop solutions using 3D CAD modeling and engineering analysis before documenting the designs for production. Additionally, as a senior member of the engineering team, you may act as a project manager for projects, provide engineering support to the sales and marketing teams, scope and create proposals for new projects, and help mentor junior engineers. What we're looking for... Curiosity, creativity, and the desire to find the best solution to a problem Aptitude for designing complex mechanical systems Ability to develop multiple concepts for a problem and quickly validate them through testing, engineering analysis, mockups, and prototyping Excellent writing and visual presentation skills Project management skills (scoping, scheduling, budgets, managing clients, driving projects to completion) Desire to coach junior engineers in best practices Skills and Experience required: Bachelor's degree (MSME preferred) in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering from an accredited university 5+ years of experience designing mechanical systems (product development environment preferred) Proficiency with 3D modeling software (CREO, SolidWorks, etc.) Experience with precision mechanisms, mechatronics, electro-mechanical systems, optics, and machine design Experience designing with various manufacturing processes (machined, formed, molded, printed, plastics, metals, etc.) Proficiency in design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) considerations Experience creating complete release packages for designs (drawings, BOM, etc.) Hands-on experience with designing, making, and building mock-ups and prototypes Comfortable presenting work to small and large groups (clients, co-workers, vendors) Previous experience collaborating with industrial design is a plus Proficiency in top-down design techniques (master/skeleton modeling) and complex surfacing is a plus Experience acting as a technical lead on projects Experience acting as a project manager on projects Experience mentoring and developing junior team members 5-10% travel may be required
