We are seeking a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to strengthen our manufacturing and chemical processing operations that support the commercial nuclear power industry. Based 100% on-site in Ogden, UT and reporting to the Senior Manager of Engineering, you will elevate mechanical integrity, throughput, and compliance through rigorous design and disciplined execution. Your impact Serve as the primary engineering partner to operations and maintenance, delivering daily technical support that keeps systems productive and safe. Lead end-to-end design for new or modified systems—including process/equipment specification, installation oversight, fabrication coordination, testing, and qualification—while enforcing safety and regulatory compliance. Investigate failures using engineering analysis and implement corrective actions. Scout, assess, and recommend innovations in materials, machinery, manufacturing methods, and chemical processing techniques to address complex challenges. Establish robust methods for materials selection, equipment layout, and process design. Perform hand calculations and Finite Element Analyses (ANSYS or equivalent) to validate performance and reliability. Direct cross-functional capital projects, ensuring alignment on scope, schedule, risk, and budget. Produce and maintain project charters, management plans, schedules, WBS, risk management plans, and financials. Generate precise engineering specifications, drawings, and design documentation. Qualifications B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or comparable degree. 5+ years of experience in manufacturing or chemical plant settings. Proficient with Autodesk or SolidWorks and ANSYS. Working knowledge of ASME codes. Demonstrated capability in CAD, mechanical design, and engineering execution. Role details
