Mechanical Engineer III Location:
St. George, UT At MMT, we develop innovative automation solutions, custom machinery, material handling systems, and advanced tooling that help our customers succeed. We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer III to join our engineering team and play a key role in the design, development, and continuous improvement of our OEM equipment and manufacturing technologies. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys leading complex projects, developing innovative solutions, and collaborating across multiple functions to bring products from concept to production. What You'll Do As a Mechanical Engineer III, you will be responsible for the design, development, documentation, and project management of custom machinery and sustaining engineering projects. You will serve as a technical leader, supporting new product development, product enhancements, manufacturing operations, and customer needs.
Key responsibilities include:
Design and develop custom machinery, tooling, assemblies, and components using SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM. Create and maintain assembly drawings, detail drawings, BOMs, routers, and engineering documentation in accordance with ASME Y14.5 and GD&T standards. Lead new product development initiatives across a variety of OEM equipment platforms. Convert legacy CAD data and drawings into SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM. Create and maintain items, routers, and bills of material within ERP systems. Partner with Sales to define customer project scope, timelines, and technical requirements. Collaborate with Operations to support production planning and engineering deliverables. Drive engineering change orders, design reviews, and product improvement initiatives. Proactively manage component obsolescence and evaluate replacement technologies. Serve as a subject matter expert in the design of medical manufacturing equipment and thermal forming technologies. Provide technical support to customers, field service personnel, and internal teams. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical knowledge-sharing initiatives. What We're Looking For Education Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Automation Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent technical trade school education combined with 10+ years of relevant experience will also be considered. Experience 6+ years of machine design, tooling design, or related engineering experience. Experience with medical manufacturing equipment or thermal forming technologies is preferred. Proven experience leading engineering projects from concept through implementation. Technical Skills Strong proficiency in SolidWorks required. CSWP or CSWE certification preferred. Experience applying
ASME Y14.5
standards and GD&T principles. Experience designing and qualifying OEM equipment to CE requirements. Design for Manufacturing (DFM) experience, particularly involving wire EDM and sinker EDM processes. Experience with ERP systems, BOM creation, and engineering documentation. Experience with Autodesk AutoCAD and Inventor preferred. Familiarity with
ISO 13485
environments preferred. Strong communication, collaboration, and customer service skills. Travel Requirements This position requires occasional travel to support manufacturing operations, technical consultations, suppliers, and customers.
