Our customers include government laboratories, universities, defense organizations, and private industry research groups performing advanced scientific testing where microsecond and nanosecond image capture is required. Our systems are sophisticated electro-optical-mechanical products involving precision optics, electronics, firmware, software, and custom mechanical assemblies. We design and manufacture complex low-volume instrumentation with a strong focus on innovation, reliability, and performance. We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering team. This position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge high speed imaging technology in a collaborative, hands-on environment with exposure to a broad range of technical disciplines. Cordin is a small company operating at a high technical level. Candidates should be able to take primary responsibility for their areas and be self-disciplined and organized. Responsibilities Mechanical design of precision scientific instrumentation and support equipment Collaboration on product development from concept and prototype through production release Design and detailing of machined, sheet metal, optical, and electromechanical components and assemblies Creation and maintenance of SolidWorks parts, assemblies, and drawings Development and maintenance of bills of materials (BOMs) Design for manufacturability and assembly (DFM/DFA) Tolerance analysis and application of GD&T principles Support manufacturing and assembly Coordinate with management, electrical engineer, and machines shop during production Generate and maintain engineering documentation and product specifications Assist with prototype fabrication, testing, and validation Evaluate and integrate commercial off-the-shelf components and vendor hardware Support continuous improvement efforts for existing products and manufacturing processes Required Skills Proficiency with SolidWorks, including assemblies and BOM management Strong mechanical design fundamentals, spatial abilities, and engineering judgment Experience with precision machined parts and manufacturing processes Knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawing standards Design for manufacturability and production-oriented engineering Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects Effective communication and collaboration skills Preferred Experience Precision instrumentation or scientific equipment design Optical or electromechanical systems Technical writing and documentation skills Prototype development and hands-on fabrication Experience working in a low-volume/high-mix manufacturing environment Qualifications Minimum Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) 3+ years of relevant engineering experience preferred Must be self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented Must be capable of working in a small company engineering environment with high responsibility and accountability Ability to architect and execute top-level mechanical system designs Work Environment Cordin offers a relaxed and flexible working environment built on employee competence, responsibility, and teamwork.
