The Opportunity:
As a Project Engineer you will be responsible for coordinating the planning, organizing, and completion of capital projects at the Covington, VA mill. How you will impact
Smurfit Westrock:
Support and foster safety and environmental compliance Understand safe designs, safe work practices, and safe work environments. Evaluate the performance of mechanical systems to determine the best option for replacement Develop capital CFR documents for capital approval process Implement capital projects on time and within budget Control project costs by developing bid packages, monitoring expenditures, and administering contracts. Establish project schedules by studying specifications, calculating time requirements, and sequencing project elements Responsible for construction oversight during implementation phases of on-site construction. Partner with operations, E&I, and Mechanical Maintenance to understand all processes and how teams and individuals are involved and impacted at each step What you will need to succeed: Bachelor's degree in engineering, mechanical or chemical engineering preferred Must have 5 years of experience in a project, operations, or maintenance engineering role Experience with SAP preferred Strong problem-solving and process-analysis skills to evaluate data and make decisions to drive process improvements through capital upgrades. Possess effective communication skills to clearly convey project-related data to operations, maintenance, and management Proven track record of collaboration within cross-functional teams Work experience in the paper industry or similar industry preferred Candidates are required to undergo a drug screening after receiving a conditional job offer, but before starting employment.
