Job Description

This is a summer internship position. NASA enforces REAL ID requirements for all visitors and badge holders. Please visit www.dhs.gov/real-id to view a list of compliant documents. The successful candidate will join the Facility Operations team to support the Center Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering Contract (CMOE) located at NASA Langley Research Center. All work will be performed with a high standard of quality and professionalism. All safety policies and procedures must be followed. Responsibilities Responsible for significant portion of data analysis on projects of limited scope; identifies data discrepancies, reviews, analyzes, and integrates the technical work of others. Outlines technical approaches for associates and checks mathematical work in progress. Assumes reporting responsibility for defined areas, and prepares procedures as required. Assists engineers with presentations, by developing innovative approaches to data display. Works closely with engineers to define/clarify requirements for accomplishment by others. Provides organizational integrity for the group and effectively utilizes the manpower available for peak productivity. Develops internal procedures to resolve problem areas and provides an orderly method for workflow.
Qualifications:
U.S. Citizenship is required. Ability to understand basic engineering terminology. College courses in engineering, mathematics, science, electrical or mechanical are desirable. Must be able to effectively communicate both orally and written with effective use of visual aids. Should be able to use computing technology for problem analysis and solutions. Essential Functions Work Environment Office Environment (50-60%) Test/Industrial Operations (5%) - May be exposed to high noise levels, safety hazards, hazardous materials, and chemicals. Appropriate PPE and training will be provided for all conditions. Travel between facilities and test operations may bring exposure to loud noise and potentially hazardous equipment operation (5%) Physical Requirements Must be able to stand and/or sit for extended periods (100%) as well as lift up to 35 lbs. Must have sufficient mobility to enter into confined spaces, crawl into or onto various assemblies while maintaining a clear vision of safety is required. Potential exposure to high noise levels, hazardous chemicals, propellants and the like. Appropriate PPE and training will be provided for all conditions. Must be able to walk, stand, bend, twist and sit for extended periods as well as climb, crawl, and lift up to 35 lbs.
