  • (6)+ years of professional experience in mechanical engineering.
  • Proficiency with CAD software, including AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor, with demonstrated experience in 3D modeling, Bills of Materials (BOM), and manufacturing documentation.
  • Ability to assess and balance cost, manufacturability, and quality considerations within engineering design solutions. Nice to Have Skills & Experience

  • Experience leading or mentoring engineers Job Description Insight Global is seeking a qualified Lead Mechanical Engineer III in support of a large federal client in Virginia Beach, VA.
This candidate will lead the design and development of electromechanical systems supporting naval platforms. Their day to day will include managing engineering design efforts, creating technical data packages, supporting testing and integration, and ensuring system performance meets mission standards. A qualified candidate will have hands-on design experience, CAD expertise, and the ability to lead engineering efforts from concept through deployment.
  • Designing and developing electromechanical systems and mechanical components for naval applications
  • Reviewing and refining Bills of Materials (BOMs) to ensure accuracy, cost-efficiency, and manufacturability
  • Creating and maintaining detailed Technical Data Packages (TDPs) to support production and lifecycle management
  • Developing 3D models and engineering drawings using Autodesk Inventor
  • Supporting and contributing to environmental qualification testing (e.g., temperature, vibration, humidity)
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration across mechanical, electrical, and system components
  • Supporting prototype development, testing, and iterative design improvements
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable military and industry standards
  • Proven experience supporting DoD and U.
S. Navy programs, with hands-on involvement in Environmental Qualification Testing (EQT)
Compensation:
$100k - $125k Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
