Title Optical Test Engineer Company Fortune 25 Company Location Redmond, Washington Schedule Monday - Friday, Onsite Type Full-time, Ongoing W2, 6-Month Contract, New Role & Possible Extensions Pay Rate $82/hour (with overtime pay and a half) Benefits 3 Weeks of PTO, 1 Week of Paid Sick Leave, Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), Life Insurance, Disability Coverage, Holidays Off but Unpaid Summary Our client is seeking a highly skilled Optical Test Engineer to support advanced display systems engineering initiatives. This role focuses on developing and executing optical test and calibration procedures for cutting-edge hardware, contributing to innovative work in display technologies and optical modules. You will be responsible for hands-on testing, data analysis, and debugging in a lab-based, product-oriented environment. This position requires a strong foundation in optical metrology, programming, and hardware testing, along with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally to ensure product quality and performance. This is a high-impact opportunity for individuals with experience in display systems, optical testing, and AR/VR technologies who enjoy working in fast-paced, engineering-driven environments. Key Responsibilities Optical Testing & Calibration Develop, execute, and document optical test and calibration procedures for display hardware and optical components Utilize optical metrology tools to validate performance and ensure measurement accuracy Data Analysis & Debugging Analyze test data, perform statistical analysis, and identify trends or anomalies Debug test sequences, optical prototypes, and related electronics in a hands-on lab environment Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with engineering teams to define test requirements and improve product quality Provide actionable feedback to design and manufacturing teams Equipment Maintenance & Compliance Maintain and calibrate optical test equipment Ensure adherence to laboratory safety standards and best practices Reporting & Documentation Document test procedures, results, and findings with clear, detailed reporting Present insights and recommendations to stakeholders Required Education & Experience Master's degree or equivalent experience in Optics, Optical Engineering, Optical Sciences, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field 4+ years of experience in optical testing, measurement, and analysis within a hardware engineering environment Required Skills & Qualifications Experience with optical metrology and optical test equipment (e.g., spectroradiometers, photometers, colorimeters, autocollimators) Strong programming skills (Python, C#, or C++) for test automation and data analysis Hands-on lab experience with product-oriented testing and debugging Ability to automate test sequences and perform image processing Experience performing statistical data analysis on large datasets (e.g., JMP) Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent documentation and communication skills Ability to work both independently and collaboratively Preferred Skills & Qualifications Knowledge of color science and display calibration Experience in AR/VR or display-based hardware environments Experience with data analysis, statistical modeling, or machine learning Familiarity with display or electronics manufacturing processes Experience with optical design/simulation tools (Zemax, LightTools) Experience with opto-mechanical design tools (Ansys, SolidWorks, NX) Experience with AI-assisted coding or applied AI research #LI-JH1
