Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Piping Designer to join our engineering team supporting projects at the Hanford Site. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical and piping design, be highly proficient in 3D modeling using AutoCAD and/or Revit, and possess in-depth knowledge of field operations, including field walkdowns and piping system integration. This is a mid-level position requiring a minimum of 5 - 10 years of relevant experience in mechanical and piping design, particularly within nuclear, industrial, or DOE-regulated environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Support design and execute complex mechanical and piping design projects using AutoCAD. Perform field walkdowns to verify existing conditions, collect design input, and support as-built documentation. Develop detailed piping isometric drawings, general arrangements, P&IDs, and support plans in compliance with project specifications and codes. Review and ensure all designs conform to applicable codes (ASME, ANSI, etc.), standards, and Hanford Site procedures. Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to develop cost-effective and constructible design solutions. Participate in design reviews and provide technical input. Support constructability assessments and field engineering during construction and installation phases.
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical and piping design. Proficient in AutoCAD 3D modeling and drawing production. Proven experience with Hanford Site standards, procedures, and design criteria is required. Strong understanding of mechanical codes, piping specifications, and material selection. Experience in field walkdowns, dimensional verification, and field coordination. Excellent communication and team collaboration skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with other CAD platforms (e.g., Plant 3D, Navisworks) is a plus. Previous DOE or nuclear facility project experience strongly preferred. Associate's in Mechanical Design, Engineering Technology, or a related field is desired but not required.
