For over 50 years, Wellons has been a leader in providing biomass-fired energy systems, lumber dry kilns, and related products and services. Firmly established, Wellons provides its customers with complete services in design, engineering and manufacturing, as well as installation services and on-site technical support. We are looking for a fulltime Project Engineer to join our team in Vancouver, WA. High Level Summary of Position The Project Engineer will be responsible for coordinating and executing multi-discipline engineering activities to ensure the successful delivery of capital projects, bridging the gap between technical design and overall project management. An ideal candidate for this role will be a self-starter, who is a creative problem solver, exhibits sound engineering practices, and can effectively organize and drive project deliverables. This position reports to the Chief Engineer. Responsibilities Plan, organize, and monitor multi-discipline engineering activities to execute project stages from initiation through closeout. Communicate regularly with the project team to convey technical information, identify problems, and develop solutions that achieve project objectives in a timely manner. Interface with multiple engineering disciplines, project management, customers, vendors, and contractors via phone, email, and live meetings. Develop and maintain engineering project schedules, identifying and managing project dependencies, critical paths, and the issuance of deliverables. Assist in defining the approach needed to solve technical problems, including the identification and collection of field data and customer information. Support other engineers through the review of equipment specifications, process design, and technical drawings to ensure adherence to project scope. Plan, manage, and facilitate the timely submittal of engineering deliverables provided to clients and the return of client review comments or approvals. Ensure timely and appropriate generation, collection, dissemination, storage, and ultimate disposition of project engineering information. Execute the project work in accordance with the contract, scope of services, client requirements, Wellons's practices, and project procedures. Requirements Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or similar from an ABET accredited program. Minimum 5-7 years of industry experience, with a solid grasp of interdisciplinary engineering practices in a project phase work process for heavy industry. Project experience in the lumber or pulp & paper industry is highly desirable. Experience with critical path scheduling techniques (e.g., Microsoft Project) and a good working knowledge of key project execution processes. In-depth knowledge of engineering fundamentals, with familiarity in process systems, fluid transfer, and equipment design preferred. Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, maintain accurate records, and seek to understand others' perspectives. Provide clear direction, convey a sense of urgency, and drive technical issues to closure while fostering collaboration among team members. Travel to domestic job sites may be required on a routine basis.
