Job Type:
Full Time Reports to: Engineering Manager Job Summary As a mechanical design engineer, you will be responsible for creating, testing, and refining designs for thermoformed, extrusion, and other mechanical projects. You will work closely with production, maintenance, and the rest of the engineering team to ensure designs meet quality standards, function, cost and customer requirements. This is a hands-on role that will require you to apply your knowledge of material science, manufacturing processes, and engineering principles to solve complex design challenges. Key Responsibilities and Skills Developing initial design concepts for mechanical systems, components, and products. Knowledge of engineering principles, mechanics, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and material science. Creating Detailed 3D CAD models and 2D drawings with design for manufacturing in mind. Collaborating with all interested parties to understand product requirements and constraints. Oversee prototype and testing to validate design. Improving designs based on performance, cost, manufacturability, and sustainability. Modifying existing designs to improve efficiency or meet updated requirements. Selecting the correct material for the design based on project requirements and cost. Sourcing parts for your design. Creating and maintaining detailed design documentation. Working closely with other engineers, the maintenance team, and production employees. Managing project timelines, resources, and deliverables to ensure design milestones are met. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve design issues. Understanding of the manufacturing processes.
