Job Description

Mechanical Engineer Bock Water Heaters 85,000-100,000 United States, Wisconsin, Madison 110 South Dickinson Street (Show on map) Mar 09, 2026 Position Overview The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing, testing, and improving the Turboflue machines, ensuring compliance with safety standards and performance requirements. This role requires expertise in mechanical engineering principles, with a focus on machine operation, control systems, and structural components. They will maintain the integrity of the equipment and associated documentation and drawings. They will set-up, adjust and operate machine tools to perform progressive machining operations on a variety of standardized work.
Key Responsibilities Design & Development:
Develop and optimize electrical and mechanical components for the Turboflue machines, including weld heads, wiring, and structural assemblies. Ensure that department production requirements are met; and that any backlog is at an acceptable level.
Testing & Validation:
Conduct performance, durability, and safety tests on Turboflue equipment.
Collaboration:
Work closely with cross-functional teams (Design team, Operations, Supply Chain) to ensure seamless product development and production. Work with 3rd party vendors to assist with repairs and improvements to machines.
Troubleshooting:
Diagnose and resolve technical issues in existing Turboflue machines. Assist in trouble-shooting and the repairing of other production machines and equipment.
Documentation:
Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
Experience:
3+ years of experience in mechanical engineering in a related field. Some electrical experience preferred.
Skills:
Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD). Knowledge of electrical circuits, thermal systems, and mechanical design principles. Experience with hands on repairs and machining.
Other:
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Physical Demands:
Frequent walking, standing, crouching, bending, twisting Ability to lift up to 50 lbs or more, occasionally.
Work Environment:
Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment and personal protective equipment to include, but not limited to: eye safety glasses, hearing protection, work boots. Loose fitting clothing and jewelry are not permitted. Environment can be extremely dirty; due to welding, blasting and steel grit materials and particles. May be exposed temperature extremes (40degrees F - 120degrees F) Some exposure to increased level of noise. Preferred Qualifications Background in electrical/PLC preferred. Background in manufacturing processes and cost optimization.
