Job Title:
Piping Designer Job Description We are seeking a Lead Piping Designer to provide project leadership for our design team. This individual will report directly to the Project Manager and will offer advanced development, design, and drafting CAD support on projects. Responsibilities Utilize AutoCAD Plant 3D, CADWorx, Navisworks, and BIM software proficiently. Check design and drafting of P&IDs. Redline and generate P&IDs and Flow Diagrams. Collaborate with Lead Designers and Drafters on piping layout and design. Cross check models using AutoCAD Plant 3D, CADWorx, Navisworks, and BIM software. Create 3D equipment models using Plant 3D and CADWorx. Develop 3D piping models from P&IDs and route piping systems. Produce piping drawings, plans, sections, and isometrics (Isogen). Generate Bills of Materials (BOMs). Check piping designs against other disciplines. Review and verify P&IDs for accuracy. Apply piping specifications and good engineering/design practices. Maintain strong drafting standards and AutoCAD proficiency. Collaborate with drafters to complete drawing sets to meet client requirements. Check drawings for proper process flow, drafting standards, and CAD standards. Layout P&IDs and create As-Builts, conduct site visits, and walkdowns. Develop complex piping models using basic information such as P&IDs, GA drawings, piping specifications, and equipment arrangements. Understand and apply technical principles, theories, and concepts specific to the Oil and Gas industry. Review and check project documents, piping layouts, orthographic drawings, and isometrics for scope, presentation, and technical accuracy prior to issuance. Prepare Bill of Material and other construction documents. Develop hand isometric sketches in the field and isometric drawings from piping designs. Essential Skills 10-15 years of experience in the Oil and Gas industry. Proficiency with Plant 3D or Revit; CADWorx, AutoCAD, Navis, Microsoft Excel are advantageous. Strong understanding of P&IDs, Mechanical, Structural, Electrical, and Plant/Facility drawings. Experience with models and multi-discipline coordination. Knowledge of
ANSI/ASTM
B31.3, B31.8, and B31.9. Strong communication skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with Navisworks and BIM software is beneficial. Experience with Water, Steam, Condensate, and Gas systems. Ability to conceptualize and draw design details independently with minor instruction. Work Environment Initially, this role requires in-office presence every day. However, there will be more flexibility later on in the role, transitioning to a hybrid setup. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $50.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
