WHAT WE NEED
Drafter (On-Site) Sigma Engineers & Constructors is seeking a Drafter for a two-year contract opportunity supporting a client site in Yazoo City, Mississippi. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining detailed engineering drawings and documentation to support plant operations and capital projects. The Drafter will work closely with engineers and field personnel to ensure drawings accurately reflect existing conditions and proposed design changes. This position involves a combination of office-based drafting and field verification work in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Responsibilities:
Create and update Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), and utility schematics to support plant operations and projects. Develop detailed 2D and 3D drawings of process equipment layouts, piping isometrics, and structural supports using CAD software. Perform field walkdowns to measure existing equipment, verify as-built conditions, and collect data necessary for drawing revisions and updates. Interpret and translate engineering redline markups into accurate, up-to-date electronic drawings. Prepare and maintain project documentation including bills of materials (BOMs), equipment lists, and bid packages. Maintain and update plant drawing libraries and document control systems to ensure accuracy and accessibility of records. Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and operations personnel to support ongoing projects and plant modifications. Ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency across all drawings and documentation.
WHO WE NEED
Associate degree in Drafting & Design or relevant technical field preferred, or equivalent work experience. Proven experience in a drafting or CAD design role, preferably within an industrial, chemical, or manufacturing environment. Working knowledge of process drawings including P&IDs and PFDs. Familiarity with piping systems, process equipment, and industrial layout standards. High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and Bluebeam. Ability to manage multiple projects and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, redlines, and technical documentation. Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
