Mechanical Draftsman

Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Draftsman to join our dynamic engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating precise technical drawings and detailed schematics that support mechanical system design, construction, and manufacturing processes. Your expertise in CAD software and mechanical engineering principles will enable you to translate complex concepts into clear, accurate drawings that facilitate seamless project execution. Duties Develop detailed 2D and 3D mechanical drawings using CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, SolidWorks, Creo, Autodesk Inventor, and Pro/ENGINEER. Create comprehensive schematics and system design layouts for mechanical components and assemblies. Ensure all drawings adhere to industry standards including ASME codes and standards for safety, quality, and reliability. Collaborate with engineers and project managers to interpret design specifications and translate them into accurate technical drafts. Incorporate GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) principles into drawings to specify manufacturing tolerances precisely. Utilize advanced tools like NavisWorks and Bluebeam for model review, clash detection, and markup management during project development. Assist in technical writing tasks related to drafting procedures, assembly instructions, and design documentation. Support construction teams by providing detailed system design drawings that facilitate installation and assembly processes. Conduct FEA (Finite Element Analysis) simulations when necessary to validate mechanical integrity of designs. Maintain organized CAD libraries and ensure version control for all project files. Experience Proven experience as a Mechanical Draftsman or similar role within an engineering or construction environment. Extensive proficiency in CAD software including AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, SolidWorks, Creo, Autodesk Inventor, and Pro/ENGINEER. Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, schematics development, and system design processes. Familiarity with industry standards such as ASME codes & standards for pressure vessels, piping, and mechanical components. Experience working on complex projects involving assembly drawings, technical schematics, and construction documentation. Ability to interpret technical specifications and translate them into detailed drawings with precision. Knowledge of FEA tools for structural analysis is a plus. Excellent technical writing skills for creating clear documentation and drafting procedures. Prior exposure to 2D animation or visualization tools is advantageous for presenting design concepts effectively. $35.00 - $45.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
