Job Title:
Mechanical Drafter Job Description We are seeking a Mechanical Drafter proficient in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or CATIA to create detailed 2D and 3D models and drawings for prototype components and assemblies. The role requires a strong understanding of tolerance stack-ups, manufacturing processes, and the ability to prototype and refine designs effectively. This position involves performing tolerance analysis and ensuring all drawings include accurate dimensions, materials, and finishes. Additionally, the drafter will translate complex technical concepts and procedures into clear, concise, and visually supported instructions for airplane assembly. Responsibilities Create detailed 2D and 3D models and drawings for prototype components and assemblies using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or CATIA. Perform tolerance analysis and ensure all drawings include accurate dimensions, materials, and finishes. Translate complex technical concepts and procedures into understandable instructions using drawings, images, and text. Work closely with designers and engineers to clean up designs, red lines, and new prototypes. Write various pieces of documentation and support engineering change orders and BOMs. Utilize MS Word and an ERP system/Excel for pulling BOMs and assembly instructions. Essential Skills Solid modeling skills in SolidWorks and AutoCAD. Experience in drafting, specifically with GD&T and redlining. Proficiency in manufacturing documentation, including writing and reviewing. Support for BOM and ECO processes. Additional Skills & Qualifications Aerospace or aviation experience is highly desirable. Experience with sheet metal drawings/design. Technical writing experience for work instructions, manuals, and assembly/builder notes. Aviation/aircraft experience and passion; a pilot license or desire to obtain one is a plus. 'Kit Building' experience is advantageous. Basic understanding of MS Word and ERP systems. Work Environment The work environment consists of both shop and office settings, providing a dynamic and diverse working atmosphere. The company is growing rapidly and is currently involved in several R D projects, with more phases on the horizon. This is an excellent opportunity for those with aviation-related hobbies or interests. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Aurora, OR. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
