Job Title:
Mechanical Drafter Job Description The Mechanical Drafter creates accurate 2D drawings and 3D models for circuit breaker products using current-generation CAD software. This role supports engineering, production, and quality teams by preparing, reviewing, and maintaining technical drawings and documentation in line with applicable standards and specifications. Responsibilities Create, modify, and organize general arrangement and physical outline drawings using current-generation AutoCAD software to support customer approvals and manufacturing of circuit breaker products. Perform CAD file conversions as needed to ensure compatibility across systems and projects. Use ProEngineer to generate 3D models for customer circuit breaker configurations upon request. Review mechanical and electrical drawing packages for technical accuracy and typographical correctness before release. Prepare approval and as-built drawing packages, including CT curves and test reports, for customer submittal. Manage and maintain all circuit breaker engineering drawing files within the document management system (EDMATS) to ensure accurate version control and easy retrieval. Prepare device tag files to support procurement activities carried out by the planning team. Update the order tracking record database with accurate and current data to reflect project and documentation status. Follow relevant factory and grid solutions specifications as well as applicable national and international standards when producing and reviewing drawings. Assist Production, Industrialization, Sourcing, and Quality departments with drawing-related tasks and technical documentation support. Perform other drafting and documentation duties as necessary or assigned to support engineering and operations. Essential Skills Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in Drafting, 3D Modeling, Mechanical Design, or a closely related field. Minimum of 1 year of experience using mechanical CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or ProEngineer (Pro-E). Proficiency with current-generation AutoCAD software for creating and modifying 2D mechanical drawings. Ability to generate 3D models in ProEngineer (Pro-E) for mechanical components and assemblies. Strong attention to detail when reviewing mechanical and electrical drawing packages for technical and typographical errors. Ability to manage and maintain engineering drawing files in a document management system. Competence in preparing complete approval and as-built drawing packages and related technical documentation. Ability to accurately update and maintain data in order tracking and documentation systems. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working with circuit breaker or similar electrical equipment drawings and documentation. Familiarity with CT curves, test reports, and other technical documentation associated with electrical equipment. Experience supporting cross-functional teams such as Production, Industrialization, Sourcing, and Quality with drawing and documentation needs. Understanding of relevant factory specifications and applicable national and international standards for mechanical and electrical drawings. Strong organizational skills to handle multiple drawing packages and documentation tasks simultaneously. Effective communication skills to collaborate with engineering, planning, and operations teams. Ability to adapt to additional duties and changing project requirements as assigned. Work Environment The Mechanical Drafter works in an office or engineering environment using current-generation CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and ProEngineer on standard computer workstations. The role involves extensive work with a document management system (EDMATS) and order tracking databases to maintain accurate and up-to-date technical records. The position supports a manufacturing setting focused on circuit breaker products, collaborating closely with Production, Industrialization, Sourcing, and Quality teams. Work is primarily performed during standard business hours, with periods of focused, detail-oriented tasks related to drawing creation, review, and documentation management. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Charleroi, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $31.25/hr.
