Job Description

Job Title:
Drafter Level II Job Description The Drafter Level II produces intermediate to advanced AutoCAD and Revit drawings for insulated metal panel (IMP) projects. This role prepares accurate material take-offs and bills of materials, completes shop drawings of standard to moderately complex difficulty, and maintains a strong understanding of company products, drafting workflows, calculation tools, and construction principles. The Drafter Level II works with moderate independence, supports Level I Drafters, and collaborates closely with higher level drafting team members and Project Managers to ensure project accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to established standards. Responsibilities Use Revit and AutoCAD to create accurate drawings of IMP structures in accordance with drafting standards, construction practices, and project requirements. Modify, develop, and maintain Revit families and integrate them into project templates with minimal supervision. Complete drafting assignments and bills of materials accurately and consistently, including projects with moderate complexity or multiple special conditions. Extract and interpret information from customer drawings and coordinate with Project Managers and Sales to clarify missing or conflicting details. Apply a working understanding of calculation processes and engineering concepts to ensure drafting accuracy, without independently modifying engineering methods. Perform detailed plan checks and bill of materials reviews for standard or moderate-difficulty projects prepared by Level I Drafters. Support Level I Drafters by providing guidance on drafting practices, Revit and AutoCAD usage, and company procedures. Manage personal project schedules with increasing independence, prioritizing tasks according to drafting workloads and deadlines. Maintain a solid understanding of construction engineering terminology, IMP system behavior, and product application limits. Follow and reinforce standard operating procedures, best practices, and drafting standards, identifying inconsistencies and elevating concerns to Supervisors. Participate in team training sessions and contribute to the development of internal drafting resources and tools as assigned. Complete all required training, including in-person sessions conducted by Supervisors or higher level drafting team members. Comply with all company, departmental, and safety policies. Essential Skills Proficiency in AutoCAD, with 2-4 years of professional experience using AutoCAD and Revit, or equivalent proficiency. Working proficiency in Revit, including the ability to create, modify, and maintain Revit families. Ability to interpret construction drawings, technical specifications, and architectural details with increasing accuracy. Ability to create and edit AutoCAD blocks, manage drawing layers, and prepare properly formatted layouts. Intermediate skills with PDF markup tools such as Bluebeam or Adobe Acrobat. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills, including consistent attention to detail. High school diploma or equivalent. Additional Skills & Qualifications Technical drafting certificate or relevant coursework in drafting or a related field. Experience working with insulated metal panels (IMPs), building envelope systems, metal buildings, or related construction fields. Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, and Teams. Intermediate skill level in Box and WhatsApp. Interest in training and development, particularly in building and maintaining a Revit library. Past familiarity with similar organizations, workflows, or drafting environments is beneficial. Work Environment This role operates in an office environment alongside other drafters, collaborating closely with Project Managers and Engineers. Drafters typically work on approximately five projects at a time, balancing multiple priorities and deadlines. The position follows a typical 40-hour workweek. New hires participate in a structured three-week onboarding period that includes training, shadowing, and process fine-tuning to ensure consistency and confidence in drafting practices and Revit library development. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vacaville, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $34.00/hr.
