Duration:
12-Month W2 Contract initially About the Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Senior Piping Designer to support the design and execution of complex industrial and pharmaceutical facility projects. In this role, you will work alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop high-quality piping designs, create and maintain 3D models, review vendor documentation, and support project execution from concept through construction. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled piping designer who enjoys collaborating across engineering disciplines, contributing to technically challenging projects, and mentoring junior team members while helping deliver critical infrastructure projects for industry-leading clients. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain detailed 2D and 3D piping designs and models for industrial and pharmaceutical facilities. Create piping layouts, equipment arrangements, and associated design documentation. Review and incorporate vendor drawings and equipment information into project designs. Coordinate closely with mechanical, process, structural, electrical, and other engineering disciplines. Support project planning, design execution, and deliverable development while maintaining schedule and quality expectations. Identify, communicate, and document scope changes, design revisions, and project impacts. Assist with project estimating, progress tracking, and design reviews. Participate in projects executed across multiple offices and teams. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior designers and drafters. Ensure designs comply with applicable industry standards, project specifications, and client requirements.
Basic / Required
Qualifications Associate degree in Computer-Aided Drafting & Design (CADD), Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline. 15+ years of professional piping design experience. Advanced proficiency with 2D and 3D piping design software, including: Hexagon SmartPlant 3D (S3D) Autodesk Plant 3D Strong understanding of piping layouts, equipment arrangements, and industrial facility design practices. Experience reviewing and coordinating vendor drawings and technical documentation. Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
Desired / Preferred
Qualifications Experience supporting industrial manufacturing, pharmaceutical, life sciences, chemical, or process facility projects. Experience working within multi-discipline engineering and design teams. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities. Self-motivated with a continuous learning mindset and a passion for process improvement. Proven ability to mentor and support less-experienced team members. Experience supporting multi-office project execution environments.
