Job Title:
Mechanical Drafter 1 Job Description The primary role of the Mechanical Drafter is to prepare detailed working diagrams of machinery and mechanical devices, incorporating dimensions, fastening methods, and other engineering information. Responsibilities Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, dies, tools, and controls using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment. Coordinate and consult with other workers to design, layout, or detail components and systems, and to resolve design or other problems. Compute mathematical formulas to develop and design detailed specifications for components or machinery using computer-assisted equipment. Position instructions and comments onto drawings. Design scale or full-size blueprints of specialty items such as furniture and automobile body or chassis components. Check dimensions of materials to be used and assign numbers to the material. Lay out and draw schematic, orthographic, or angle views to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies, systems, and machines. Essential Skills Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem-solving ability. Team player and detail-oriented. Basic knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models. Basic knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. Basic knowledge of relevant computer applications such as CADD (Computer Aided Design and Drafting). Additional Skills & Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. 0-2 years of experience in drafting and designing. Work Environment The work environment involves using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment to create detailed drawings and specifications. The role requires collaboration with other team members to resolve design issues and ensure accurate documentation. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Rapid City, SD. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
