Mechanical Drafter Job Description We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Drafter to join our engineering team in Houston, TX. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in SolidWorks 3D modeling and a solid understanding of mechanical design principles. This role involves creating and revising detailed mechanical designs, collaborating with engineers and project managers, and supporting the development of innovative solutions for industrial and manufacturing applications. Responsibilities Develop and modify 3D models and detailed drawings using SolidWorks. Collaborate with engineers to design mechanical components, assemblies, and systems. Interpret technical specifications, sketches, and customer requirements. Ensure designs meet applicable codes, standards, and project requirements. Participate in design reviews and provide input on manufacturability and cost-effectiveness. Maintain organized documentation and revision control of design files. Support prototyping, testing, and production processes as needed. Essential Skills 3+ years of experience in Mechanical Drafting. Experience with SolidWorks 3D modeling and PDM. Proficiency in AutoCAD. Background in Manufacturing or a Production environment. Experience with Weldments and Sheet metal design. Knowledge of annotations and manufacturing notes. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with new product development. Familiarity with BOM, FEA, and FEA analysis. Experience from concept to completion within 3D modeling, annotations, mills, and CNC. Work Environment The candidate will work in a flexible schedule with core hours from 9 AM to 3 PM. Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided. The work involves 10% machine-related designs and 90% product-related designs such as platforms and skids. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $40.00/hr.
