Job Description

New Senior Designer, Piping and Instrumentation Diagram Houston, Texas Apply Venture Global LNG ("Venture Global") is a long-term, low-cost provider of American-produced liquefied natural gas. The company's two Louisiana-based export projects service the global demand for North American natural gas and support the long-term development of clean and reliable North American energy supplies. Using reliable, proven technology in an innovative plant design configuration, Venture Global's modular, mid-scale plant design will replace traditional designs as it allows for the same efficiency and operational reliability at significantly lower capital cost. We are seeking a leader to join us as a Lead Designer, Piping and Instrumentation Diagram. This position will report to the Manager, Piping and Instrumentation Diagram. This position is located in Downtown Houston. Work schedule is Monday - Friday in office. The Senior Designer, Piping and Instrumentation Diagram is responsible for interpreting and creating Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), which are detailed engineering drawings that visually represent the layout of a process system, including piping, equipment, and instrumentation within an industrial facility; essentially, they are experts in understanding the intricate details and symbols used on P&IDs, allowing them to analyze process flow, identify potential issues, and ensure accurate design and operation of the system.
Responsibilities:
Understanding of and ability to work with process engineering: Strong grasp of block flow, process flow, material selection diagrams, as well as the different types of equipment used in various industries. Strong understanding of project/CAD life cycles and workflows. Ability to clearly comminute via phone, email, and in meetings. Proficient in P&ID symbols and standards: Accurately interpret and utilize the standardized PIP symbols used on P&IDs, including those related to valves, pumps, instruments, and safety devices.
Experience in design and review:
Review P&IDs for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with engineering standards, identifying potential design flaws or safety concerns. Experience running P&ID Teams of four users or more with High Value Centers.
Knowledge of relevant software:
Experience with the P&ID design software is required. 7+ years of experience SmartPlant P&ID 2+ years of experience with AutoCAD/MicroStation Roles where a P&ID Lead Designer might be involved: Project engineering teams: Contribute to the development and review of P&IDs during all phases of a project. Understanding of Pre-FEED, FEED, Detail Design, and EPC aspects of Capital Projects.
Operations and maintenance teams:
Analyze P&IDs to troubleshoot issues, plan maintenance activities, and understand system modifications. Understanding of the needs of Plant Operations and Owner P&ID use and functionality.
Quality assurance teams:
Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal procedures related to P&ID documentation. High understanding of the Database over picture needs, as well as the ability to do project wide picture and data audits.
Training and development:
Provide training to engineers and technicians on how to read and interpret P&IDs effectively. Mentor other team members when assigned to your projects, or if they ask for help.
Qualifications:
Associate degree in science/art or relative field 3 or more years of experience as a SPPID Project Drafting Lead Experience as a CAD Lead Designer preferred Good knowledge of P&ID design software like SmartPlant P&ID or Auto
CAD PID/PFD/MSD/BFD
